Some things you just cannot scrap - not if you have a conscience and a sense of history.

I have advertised that I will dismantle and haul away any scrap metal, such as sheds, old furnaces, etc. I got a call from a friend that has an old coal furnace that they want removed. I checked it out.

They have a wonderful old National Furnace Co. coal furnace that used to heat the house. It is HUGE! The Pat. Pend. date is 1913. It is complete, in working order, and reeks of craftsmanship that you don't see today with the shit we use that is "Made in China".

We wonder why there are no jobs in the United States? We decided that we wanted cheap shit made in China for next to nothing rather than spend a few dollars for quality goods manufactured here in the USA. Now our family members and friends are out of work, and we have nobody to blame but our own consumerist greed. We wanted more, for less. We really hit pay dirt on the less part of the deal.

Anyway, I am working out a deal with the owner to do my best to salvage the antique furnace in exchange for keeping the scrap, and taking a small percentage for brokering a sale of the furnace. I know that somebody, somewhere would pay big bucks to have this behemoth.
